12-Week Shape-Up! Week 12
If you missed the previous weeks and would like to join in, check out Goodbyes, WLS, Baseline, and the 12-Week Shape-Up. Week 1's challenge is at the bottom of the blog post.
Week 11 is in the books. Congratulations! Now it's time to weigh-in, both in regards to your weight, and in regards to how you did with your weekly challenge. As a reminder when measuring your weight, try to do it at the same time every Monday, in the same clothes, and before breakfast if possible.
How did you do?

- Weekly Challenge Success and Challenges
- Successes: Another bike-related success... I went on my own at lunch last Monday and rode for 44 minutes. I managed to average 10MPH, only stop once for some water from a fountain, and go a total of 7.11 miles. This ride also included a couple of small hills. The last time I rode this exact same portion of my local bike path, I had to walk up both hills. I also had to stop and rest about every 1/4 mile. I ALSO only went about 1.5 miles before turning around and going back... and that total 3 miles took me well over an hour. I felt so strong this time, and it was great!
- Challenges: I let the hot, humid weather get the best of me and I stayed inside on Saturday (my usual "go out and do something active around town or at a state park" day). In fact, I slept Saturday. A lot. I barely got off the couch. I could justify it and say "My body needed the rest," but I know better. I was just being a bum, a bum who hates 100% humidity with a fiery passion. I don't know if I'll ever get over that hate, so I'll just have to find creative ways to work around it (and the upcoming "too cold to go out for hours" winter days).
The only failure is when you give up and choose to make unhealthy decisions. Even if you didn't follow the program at all after the first week, if you're still here reading this, being healthy is still on your mind - even after nearly three months. And that is a win. So build on that win and take it home strong!
The mantra for this week is to Keep taking steps towards healthy!
