Taping for Healing

My shins ached this morning, and it was frustrating. From past experience, I know that if I'm not careful, the pain can get so bad it sidelines me for days or weeks. Since I'm just now getting in shape, I'm more at risk, but I saw something interesting that I thought might help: Kinesio Tex Tape.

Does anyone have experience with this tape? Or with taping in general? Does it really work? Do the home methods work?

Or should I try a science experiment on myself, give it a try, and let you all know how it does?
