Non-Scale Victories

Do you have a lot of weight to lose? Are you happy with your weight, but want to be healthier? Do you think your weight is good and you're healthy, but you just want to get cut like the gals in the Daily Hiit pictures?

It doesn't matter where you're at in your journey, the most important victories are the non-scale victories.

Non-scale victories are exactly what they say, victories that don't include the scale. This can be as simple as being able to walk an extra block, or as profound as being able to run a triathlon after not having been able to only the year before.

They can be planned victories, like hanging a pair of jeans two sizes too small on your bedroom door with a goal to get into them in three months. Or it can be unplanned victory where you grab a shirt out of the laundry and notice it fits loosely. It can be an exercise victory where you start running and by the time you stop, you notice you went one more mile than usual. Or did three more push-ups than usual.

I had two NSVs recently. The first was when I took a picture of myself for my son, wishing him Happy Birthday. I noticed a huge change in my face in only four weeks... and even if it was just angle and not weight loss, there's no denying my skin is better and I'm happier with myself. The second was when I put a formerly sausage-casing-tight shirt on, and it was loose around the upper arms and belly.

Have you had any NSVs since the 12-Week Shape-Up! began?
